MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD:

The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is an intergovernmental organisation created by Commonwealth Heads of Government for the purpose of creating and improving access to education for citizens of the Commonwealth’s 53 member nations. Through support of open and distance education, COL’s goal is to help in strengthening the capacity of member countries to develop the human resources, required for their economic and social advancement. Open and distance learning is an important tool for expanding access to the quality education and for promoting a culture of continuous professional development and life-long learning

It is in this context, that the Commonwealth of Learning Executive, Master of Business Administration (CEMBA) and Executive Master of Public Administration (CEMPA) programmes were launched in 2002. The instructional materials for these programmes have been developed by experts from across the Commonwealth, and our international network of partner universities administer the programmes, providing appropriate and effective learning support for CEMBA/CEMPA students.

As Chair of the Executive Governing Board of the Commonwealth Executive MBA/MPA programme I extend my congratulations to the Vice Chancellor of the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and his colleagues upon the 9th intake of CEMBA/CEMPA students in Pakistan. In Pakistan, AIOU graduates more students annually than the country’s other 81 conventional universities combined. I am confident that in delivering the Commonwealth Executive MBA/MPA through open and distance learning that, AIOU is making a significant contribution to the over all social and economic development of the nation.

I believe that students, who participate in the Commonwealth Executive MBA/MPA programme program will find it a valuable and enriching experience. I wish all students, faculty and administration at AIOU every success.

Lewis Perinbam, O.C.
